Dear Patient,

Dear Patient One,

Dear Sister - Daughter - Mother - Friend - Woman or Woman-to-Be...

Can we lock eyes for a moment?

What do we see when we focus

on those wide-open portals

to the heart and soul?

The eye is the lamp of the body. If your eyes are good, your whole body will be full of light. Matthew 6:22

Do we feel full of light?

The eyes are to the heart and soul

as the mouth is to the body.

The eyes are quick to ingest;

straight to the heart and soul it goes.

So if we've been feasting our eyes

on everything in sight,

we may need reminders.

Good eyes are simply good protectors.

Let's remind each other that our hearts and souls are worth the utmost protection.

They are irreplaceable.

Good eyes may sometimes grow weary or become unfocused.

Let's remind each other about the rhythm of intentional rest to reclaim focus.

Good eyes may be confused at times by the buffet of choices.

Let's remind each other that our eyes may be hungry,

and all of the choices on the buffet may be appealing,

but we have the heart and soul to consider.

Good eyes need to be thoughtful and selective.

Good eyes also learn over time

to differentiate between light and darkness.

In the process,

darkness may sometimes be taken in,

tasted,

consumed

accidentally and unintentionally,

or wildly and hastily

because of the initial appeal.

Darkness may have even looked safe,

or good

or harmless

to wide-open eyes.

But looks can be deceiving.

So if darkness slipped in somehow,

let's remind each other -

promise to remind each other -

that

no matter what,

no matter what darkness may have entered,

there is always,

always the chance

to choose light,

to open to light,

and to shine light

and to speak Light

into any dark places in the heart and soul.

This is light therapy indeed.

The Light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it. John 1:5

Darkness can’t overcome light.

And darkness doesn’t stand a chance

when we are lights for one another,

brave and courageous,

and stronger together.

Ultimately, good eyes seek light.

The unfolding of your Words gives light; it gives understanding to the simple

Psalm 119:130

Eyes can be illuminated with good words...God’s Words.

Just as sunlight on bare skin allows our bodies to produce Vitamin D,

God’s Word on our hearts and souls

produces Discernment.

Light is an essential nutrient for the heart and the soul.

Light clarifies, heals, reveals and chases out darkness.

And the source of this light is clear:

For it is You who light my lamp; the Lord my God lightens my darkness. Psalm 18:28

Patient One...

Open your eyes to seek good...

To seek God.

I already see it in your eyes.

An unmistakable light is emerging.
